About
A small studio with one table
Top Ball Games is an independent web studio publishing free social games. We currently operate exactly one: Apsis Pass, a two-card draw played for virtual coins.
The site began with a stubborn question. If a social gaming site is judged by the quality of what people actually play, why do so many of them open with a wall of icons nobody finishes? We decided to answer it by publishing one game and standing behind it.
What we make
Apsis Pass takes its mechanic from a nineteenth-century banking game built on two cards and a fixed layout, and its name from orbital mechanics — the apsis is the exact point where a body passes closest to what it circles. That is the second card: the near pass, the one that pays. The first card is the wider arc, and it is the one that can carry your stake away. Everything on the table is arranged around that single opposition, because the game has no other moving parts and does not need any.
The implementation is deliberately plain. A shuffled fifty-two card deck lives in the page, the draw is a genuine sequential deal, and the balance arithmetic happens in front of you rather than on a server somewhere. No account is created, nothing is stored between visits, and the whole site is a handful of static files that load on almost any connection.
How we think about social gaming
Free social play sits in an odd spot. It borrows the shape of casino games without borrowing the stakes, and that borrowing carries a responsibility: to be unambiguous about what is and is not on offer. Our answer is to remove the ambiguity entirely. There is no coin store on this site and never will be. Coins cannot be bought, cannot be won in any form that leaves the page, and cannot be exchanged for money, goods, credits, entries or advantages of any kind. When the balance runs out, a button puts it back.
We also keep the framing honest in the other direction. Doing well at Apsis Pass says nothing about how anyone would fare wagering real money, and we do not present the game as training, practice or preparation for gambling. It is a two-minute diversion with a nice flip animation.
How the site is built and run
Top Ball Games is operated by a distributed team working across several time zones, which is why you will not find a single national framing anywhere on the site — no country-specific offers, currencies or promotions. Development, writing and support are handled by the same small group, and messages sent through the support page reach a person rather than a queue.
The site is deliberately light on data. We do not ask for a name, an email address or a payment method to let you play, because none of those things are needed to deal two cards. What little we do collect is described plainly in our privacy notice.
Where we are going
The near-term plan is not a second game. It is a better first one: clearer statistics at the table, a keyboard path through the controls, and a lighter first paint on slow connections. If a second table ever arrives, it will arrive because it earned the space, not because a grid looked empty.
Top Ball Games is intended for players aged 18 and over. The site offers social gaming only, with no real-money wagering and no prizes of value. Please read our Responsible Play guidance before you sit down.
